DIY – Blackout blinds – the beginning
Alice’s bedroom and the whole house already have blinds. They probably date back to when the house was new, in 1998. We actually like the fact that we don’t have to spend money on blinds right now, since they are all custom fit (as usual), but they do look a bit dated, with their off white and brass colors.
But my point here that Alice’s room has, along with the blinds, a very useful blackout. Very useful yes, but NOT our style. First and easy fix, cutting the bottom part, leaving with a much cleaner look. Next step, in my intent to reuse them, is to actually replace the fabric to match the room colors and decor.
Let’s see how that goes…

I really don't like the color, but it's much better without the bottom part.

I think without the bottom part it looks really good. The color is strong for a little girls Room but if you incorporate some yellows, oranges and reds it might look very nice. At least she can sleep in!
