Europe

Amsterdam – Netherlands | Tour Europe 2012

That’s what we thought when we were planning the trip to Europe. Because not knowing some more cities, since everything is so close compared to Canada and the States, and of course with Brazil as well.
We decided then to go by train from Paris to Amsterdam first and without being the fact that we have to stay the 3 hours closed in a place with a baby who does not want to stop a minute, the trip was very pleasant. The trains are high speed (about 300km/h) and in three hours we arrived in the Dutch capital, without first stopping for passenger descent at the station in Brussels, Belgium and Antwerpen, already in the Netherlands.
We took the train later in the evening so we could enjoy the last day in Paris. We arrived late in Amsterdam and the route from the central station to the hotel, we could not see much, but it was noticed that it was not a very big city.
The next morning we left the hotel towards the centre of Amsterdam, passing the Vondelpark, which is a park with many hiking and bicycle trails, green areas (of course!), lakes etc… very beautiful and relax…

As the day continued raining, we decided to take a boat ride through the canals of Amsterdam. It’s well worth it…

Bicycles – most used means of transport in Amsterdam. If I’m not mistaken, Amsterdam has 719,000 inhabitants and 600,000 bicycles. Note ten for susteinability!

After 2 1/2 days in Amsterdam, time to catch the train to Brussels…

Amsterdam considerations:

  • We can’t find a dangerous city to take children. Yes, certain drugs are released, but it’s not something explicit on the streets, at least not in the places and hours we’ve been walking around.
  • We haven’t been in the red light region= prostitution, so we can’t give an opinion, but it’s not something you see explicitly around the city…
  • As the city is not very big and the sights are not that numerous, the good thing is to take a good time to walk in the streets, along the canals, to capture the climate of the city…
  • 2 and a half days were good size in our opinion…
It’s Brussels now that you’re in line…
