    Playmobil COVID-19 Mask

    Playmobil Face Mask

Playmobil invented a COVID-19 mask to protect their employees from the disease, and are how offering the same mask to the public. It is a reusable and washable mask, with a very interesting design. And they are donating 1€ from each purchase to the German Red Cross to help combating the pandemic. For those who don’t know, Playmobil is a German company, operating since 1974 and based in Zirndorf, a small town near Nuremberg (and about 230Km from Frankfurt). The Playmobil FunPark also operates in the city, and we plan to visit it in the near future. There are 3 sizes and 4 colors: small in orange, medium in gray…

Opel Zoo | Attractions around Frankfurt

    Opel Zoo

Not only because we have children, but unveiling the attractions in Frankfurt and the region is one of our short-term priorities. The Opel Zoo in the city of Kronberg near Frankfurt was a good start. And the possibilities are endless, many of which we have not yet done. Even the Opel Zoo was a visit we did back in May 2019, even before our official move, in our prospecting visit here in the region, in order to make the children familiar with the place. The zoo is in the city of Kronberg im Taunus, approximately 24 km from the centre of Frankfurt, so on average 30 minutes by car (the…

School in Germany | Adaptation of our daughters

    School girl by frontyard

One of the questions I get the most is about how it’s being the adaptation of girls at the new school in Germany. So today is the day I am talking about how their school adaptation in Germany is going. I imagine that many people with families who decide to become an expat here in German lands have the school situation as one of the main concerns. It was no different for us a few months ago, before we set our little flag here. Well, in Canada, Alice and Diana attended a Catholic public school in Ottawa. Public schools in Canada have a great level of education and most children…

Rent in Germany | our experience

    Backyard

When our plans got more concrete, probably by March 2019, we had to start seriously thinking about how we would rent a place in Germany and how we would do that. We researched and read several reports and opinions and came to the conclusion that the rent process in Germany would be difficult, complicated and exhausting the. First because we do not speak German, we did not know the areas and also by the heated real estate market in the Frankfurt region.   When you need help with the rental process Each place may be different, but we hear stories of houses with multiple families trying to rent, like a…

    3 weeks in Germany

Although I still owe several and several posts about the process so far, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to write in real time how we are dealing and what is happening in these first 3 weeks of expatriates in Germany. Right away, in the first week, Alice and Diana were already starting school and although we signed virtually all the necessary documents, still lacked sending the definitive and a few more pending about the school. They’ve started well, they haven’t been so surprised, because a lot of people speak English there (the school is bilingual, English/German). For us is also being quiet, everyone very helpful and cool, including…
