How much does it cost to buy a house in Canada?

For those who know a little about Canada, you may have seen that here the vast majority of villas are houses, semi-detached houses and small buildings of 2 to 3 floors. High apartment buildings are in the minority, since Canada is immense right people and cities do not actively encourage high population density (which is kind of controversial with sustainability, but ultimately out of topic). Often, apartments are for rent and houses, townhouses, condos etc are the most sought after options for those who will "buy". I say"buy" because the vast majority of homes are financed and individuals will only own the house for real in about 25 years, which…

    The glamour of -40ºC

That Canada is cold, everyone already knows. Some people don't think they're even going to see it here, check it out. Maybe it's the long winters and gray days we have around here. These past few weeks have lived up to Canada's fame. Extreme cold alerts almost daily.  The truth is, life is still around here. Everybody goes to work, goes to the supermarket, to the gym.  This morning, according to a local radio station, around 7am it felt like -41.6ºC, the lowest recorded on February 16 and the lowest temperature since March 6, 2007. Ottawa also took the coldest capital cup in the world this weekend. Even with the…

    Diana | Birth Story

    Parto Diana

Our beautiful second daughter came to us on Christmas day. She was, for sure, the best gift we will ever get for Christmas. Here I briefly tell such a special moment as the honor of becoming a mom again. Her due date was actually 2 days away, on the 27th, but she had other plans, she wanted a very special day for herself. And she also did not like to wait long. Her birth took only a couple of hours. On the day prior Diana’s birth, Christmas Eve, we had another prenatal follow up and it was determined that I was 3 to 4 cm dilated already, so we knew…

    Family sledding

This last Sunday began the winter here in the northern hemisphere and finally the days will get progressively longer. It's currently dawning around 7:45 and dusk at 4:20, so when you see it it's night again. That's the thing that bothers me the most about winter around here, the lack of sun and daylight. But with winter also accentuate the beautiful monochrome landscapes, the snow, the cozy days at home in front of the fireplace, the hot chocolate and everything. Despite the feeling of -13ºC, we took advantage that my parents are here and went to the first family sledding of the station, here pertindo from home. And here's last…

    Baby Diana's Little Room

With only a few weeks until the arrival of our baby Diana, we finally finished her little room. With Alice, we didn't finish much in advance either, but this time it almost reached the time limit, especially for the anxious mom here. Alice's little room you can meet here. I started projecting the little room into my head as soon as we discovered the pregnancy and of course, before we knew who would come, boy or girl. But from the beginning I had neutral colors in mind, such as green water and tangerine. We ended up painting the walls, which still had the original color of when we bought the…

    Snow Day in Ottawa

I think this was the first major blizzard of the season – with more than 15 inches of snow here in Ottawa. The snow fell steady and peaceful yesterday all day and at night the thing intensified and today by morning we were with several centrimeters accumulated. Diego was the one who suffered to clean the front of the house and the cars… #ginásticagratis… I escaped cleaning due to the big tummy… Rsrsrsrsrsrs For those who like snow, here are some pictures: Car windshield! The one who likes snow in the house the most – fierce competition with dogs Good Friday to everyone! Kiss
