Orlando & Downtown Disney
Oh Florida, Florida, you know how to amaze these almost Canadian Brazilians. Our little vacation left a taste of want more, for a little warmth and summer that never arrives. As soon as we landed in Orlando, our first destination, we already felt the warm breeze that reached us through the doors of the airport. Only big regret was the time we decided to leave (okay, it was cheaper). We woke up 3:30am, got ready and set off for Ottawa Airport to catch our flight that was leaving at 5:45am. Bah, right! Alice, who no longer has the best fame when it comes to sleeping, woke up when we picked…

Touristing in Ottawa – Parliament
Last weekend we decided to dust off the body and re-visit Parliament and downtown Ottawa. Fact is that we had not walked there since last summer and despite the cold, the region is a must in the icy seasons too (which seem to never end…). Worshipping – even in the cold It's good to walk outdoors again… Just resting… Hi! Rideau Canal and Ottawa River in the background Rideau Canal – Already closed for skating – now only next year… Parliament Hill Rideau Canal – to the other side Canal da Mackenzie King Bridge Mirrored – Ottawa Convention Centre Hi! Disney on Ice
Source A few weeks ago we went to watch the Disney ice show over there in Ottawa. Disney on Ice – Rockin' Ever After. We were first apprehensive about how Alice would behave, since it's a show where she has to sit around watching and she's not in a quiet phase. But overall, Alice loved it, especially Minnie, who is her favorite character. He also liked it when the rink was full of characters and the music was loud and lively. I wouldn't even look if there was only one or two skating. At halftime, we had to go in search of popcorn, because Mrs. Alice is a fan and…

Canadian Citizenship | the infinite process
I never commented here on the blog about the Canadian citizenship process because it's something that frustrates me, so much so that I called the process infinite! After completing the 3 years on Canadian soil and discounting the days we were out of Canada at that time, behold, we were able to apply to the citizenship process in December 2010, after filling out a lot of paperwork, telling tim-tim by tim-tim what we had done in the last few years and photocopy tooodas the pages of all the passports we've ever had, among other things. In February of the following year, we received the card in the brown envelope, with…

Winter in Canada | what to expect?
A lot of people who don't live here ask us: How do you put up with the winter in Canada? And many people who are from here too: How do you Brazilians stand the cold here? We, coming from southern Brazil, although we are not used to snow at the beginning, have always been in contact with the cold in the gaucho winter. No, it does not make -20ºC in southern Brazil, but the lack of heating keeps the temperature of the environments constantly low and consequently, the body as well. There, we needed to wear thick coats, wool jackets and gloves to study without dying of cold. Key with…

Halloween 2012
*Muriel – glad the photos inspire you!! I'm not much on the process, but it seems to me that you've been more selective and restricted lately… I think having a family even counts for more points, if I'm not mistaken. **Pat – cool that you will come here. Gatineau Park is well worth a visit. Sibele – I have no knowledge of any free English courses for foreigners here… sorry, sorry. One place you can find winter clothes with prices in mind is in value village. Watch out for vampiiiiroooo… Halloween kind of humid, but the weather gave a truce to the crowd and it did not rain during the trick…
