    Austin – Texas – Part I

    September 17, 2014 /

On another of our short, rather unpredictable trips, this time we ended up in Texas. It was kind of in celebration of Diego’s birthday, which would be in a few days and we took advantage of a promotion of tickets to get to know the American state that we had never visited before. Of course, if you were to see the distance, since Texas is in the extreme South American center, we would have spent a lot more days to explore the other major cities, like Houston, Dallas and San Antonio, but we only had 3 days to visit as much as possible.  After dropping off the dogs at their…

Central Bierhaus Pub in Ottawa, Ottawa

    August 25, 2014 /

The other day we were at another new restaurant in Ottawa, more specifically Kanata, . CENTRAL BIERHAUS is a new pub/brewery that promises to have the largest collection of beers and some of the best European dishes in the city.  The menu is almost all inspired by European dishes (mainly German) and the price is not so salty. Worth a lot of the visit, I loved the atmosphere (I also highlight the interior design, rich in details), the service (our waiter seemed to love what he did) and of course, the food (all done on site or canadian origin) and beers (I can only say that Diego approved that el and…

DIY at home | Front door transformation

    August 22, 2014 /
    black front door

*Thanks for the sweet comments on the baby gender everybody!! One of the great number of projects that were happening along with our flooring installation was the front door transformation. See, my idea was to actually replace the door for one with more glass (and another color), but for now, all we could spend was on some paint for the one we currently have. It’s been a couple of years that I’ve been dreaming with a house with a black front door. Of course, it wasn’t a factor point when selecting a house to buy, but I kept my mind on the idea. So I went to Home Depot and…

    square panels

One of our first projects of the season is finally here to be shared. This accent wall in our living room was planned since we finished the dining room/fireplace makeover, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it, since that wall behind the sofa was the last beige wall on the main floor and it was hurting our eyes..rsrsrs I didn’t want to just paint in another colour and put a picture frame on it. Nothing wrong with that, but that wall was asking for something more special. I can’t remember where I got the square panels idea from, but one afternoon, Alice and I took a trip…

I’ve been feeling guilty for the past month, at least, for not coming more often to this space and not sharing the great projects that have been going on around the house lately. Never thought life would be so busy, working almost full time, having a threenager and a baby on the way and making our house feel more like a home to us.   Unloading 55 boxes of flooring + extra materialsDiego’s muscles – 1 x 0 – boxes   The idea of renovating your house yourself to make it a home you want is so appealing that I can’t help myself, but to drag Diego into it, and Alice…
