DIY – Entry Renovation – Part II

    March 9, 2014 /

Baseboards have yet to be sanded and painted, quarter rounds are yet to be cut, painted and installed, it's far from the finish line, but yet, the powder room is totally usable and looks quite different from just a few weeks ago. But below, I put together the main selection we made for the bathroom. All, I must add, are a combination of cost effective and good/clean design products. Even if I had no budget limit for this project, I probably would have selected similar products, if not the same ones. I just like the idea of being able to transform a room (respecting my design ideas) for as little…

    Winter, winter…

    February 28, 2014 /

*Thanks a bunch for all recent sweet comments! You guys rock!! So the weather's still cold as hell and we're fine to say, in March. I've heard at work that it's been the coldest winter in the last 20 years here in Ottawa. I do not know if the information is safe source, but anyway, even without having scientific experience in the subject you can already notice that the cold is still firm and strong in the last fortnight of winter. Last week gave up a day with positive temperatures and it was already that snow snow melting. The staff was even excited, you could only see barbecues and gardening…

Burlington , New 1000, New 1 Vermont: Part II

    February 26, 2014 /

On Sunday (for those who missed the start of the trip – here's the first part), we took advantage of the pool at the hotel in the morning (after all it was what convinced goldfish Alice that the trip would be, in fact, fun) and then we took the opportunity to know some more sights of Burlington. Nearby, we meet another brewery, The Magic Hat and the Vermont teddy bear factory. It even looked like a private pool – our only… It is worth commenting that thermal pools in Canada are beeem cooler than those in Brazil – difficult to enter, at least for me, after it enters is even…

    Burlington, New 1000, 20 Vermont: Part I

    February 23, 2014 /

Last weekend was a holiday, with the Family Day holiday here in Ontario (and President’s Day in the States). We decided to run away from home and spend three days in the state of Vermont, in the States, which borders our old province, Quebec. Our destination was the city of Burlington, which is the largest city in the state, with just over 42,000 inhabitants (and metropolitan area of approximately 211,000 inhabitants), wow, you can see that Vermont is not very populous… 🙂 A lot of people go to Vermont for the good monhanhas for skiing and winter sports, but we were even to relax and enjoy what we could know,…

    DIY – Entry renovation – Part I

    February 21, 2014 /

Next on our list of projects was the entrance and powder room. Back in the end of last year, I found a good sale on porcelain tiles, in one of my many visits to the hardware store. So the project began, but not exactly. Lol Well, after going to the process of removing and replacing tiles on the fireplace, we knew that a lot of work would be involved in this area, not just because of the square footage and cut's complexity, but also for the lack of time to actually do it. We waited until February to finally decided we had to get some help if we wanted this…

DIY | Dining room transformation – Final

    January 29, 2014 /
    DIY Dining room

Tcharammmmm!! BEFORE pictures were taken by a professional photographer and with wide angle lens – it looks much bigger 🙂 AFTER Finally, here’s the final photos for our dining room transformation. There’s a few finishing touches yet to be completed in this room, aka custom bench on the bay window, removal of the railing between the dining and living rooms and install crown moulding and so on, but we are happy with the results for now. If you missed the other posts for this project, here they are: Part I and Part II. In summary, these are the things we’ve done to this room: paint, replace tiles around fireplace, paint…
