Family fun – sledding version
This weekend we took advantage of the nice temperature and went to do one of the things we had in mind since we arrived in Canada 6 years and 4 months ago. In short, a long time ago we beat our program, I can't believe it took us so long to do this. But anyway, we took advantage of a hill here close to home and the new board and there we went. It was super fun and you could see that Alice has adventurous spirit. I can say that getting up and down gets tired as hell and that Alice faced the steepest descent well before Me (I took…

DIY | Dining room transformation – Part II
Who knew that after just over 3 months in the new home and we would have almost completed a full room transformation. You have seen the last DIY post that we started this whole dining room renovation with the painting job, but the big job was yet to be completed, the fireplace wall. The photo below is the room when we first visit the house, before we decided it would be our new home (photo by seller’s photographer). The room was set as a family room and looks bigger in this photo that actually is, thanks to the wide camera lens. But anyway, once the house was ours, we planned…

Drinking beer in Ottawa
Obviously there are several places that you can taste a good beer in Ottawa, but we moved into the new house 3 months ago already and gradually we are trying to get to know better the neighborhood we live in, Kanata. Since time has not allowed us to take many long outdoor walks since we moved in, we are discovering, whenever it gives, some restaurant and shops here in the region. Last Saturday, so, without big plans, we went to meet a micro-brewery less than 5 minutes from home (the one I show from the video of the previous post …). The history of The 3 Brewers or Les 3…

How to walk on ice
Just because last night we had another episode of freezing rain, I found it convenient this tip of how to walk on ice. I take this opportunity to point out that I already used it this morning and look, I swear I did not fall … Hehehehe Well valid for the people of the Toronto area, where a lot of inches of ice were seen a few weeks ago… It's never too much to take care of these crazy ices… Lol

Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto, Toronto
To make the most of our short trip to the Toronto area, we managed to find some time and visit the newly opened aquarium in downtown Toronto. As you can see in the first photo, it's not hard to find the newest attraction in Canada's largest city: right at the foot of Toronto's biggest symbol, the CN Tower. The Ripley's Aquarium of Canada opened to the public about 2 1/2 months ago on October 16, 2014. We've heard stories that since then the place is always full of long lines and crowds, so we prefer to buy the ticket online and leave it to go later. And although the entrance…

Parliament of Canada in winter
Everyone has commented here that it's been a long time since we've seen a winter as snowy and cold as this one (considering that winter has just begun…). It seems that half the average snow for the entire season has already fallen here through the region of the capital. We, with the new house and the double-larger car entrance, are already feeling the difference. Anyway, a snow blower might be in our future… 🙂 We have visitors at home (Diego's mother and sister) and as usual, we went for a little jump in to see the Christmas lights in Parliament, taking the time to feel the Christmas atmosphere in downtown…
