Opel Zoo | Attractions around Frankfurt

    March 19, 2020 /
    Opel Zoo

Not only because we have children, but unveiling the attractions in Frankfurt and the region is one of our short-term priorities. The Opel Zoo in the city of Kronberg near Frankfurt was a good start. And the possibilities are endless, many of which we have not yet done. Even the Opel Zoo was a visit we did back in May 2019, even before our official move, in our prospecting visit here in the region, in order to make the children familiar with the place. The zoo is in the city of Kronberg im Taunus, approximately 24 km from the centre of Frankfurt, so on average 30 minutes by car (the…

Top Ten Attractions in Milan, Italy

    March 17, 2020 /
    Duomo di Milano

After the stop of some hours in Pisa, we continue our journey towards Milan. The city is the second largest in Italy, only losing to Rome. There are just over 3.6 million inhabitants in the Milan metropolitan area. The road from Pisa to Milan was quiet and we were communicating with the person from Airbnb, from where we had rented an apartment, as part of the family from Brazil would meet us there and we would continue our journey in 9 people. We thought it was more advantageous to rent an apartment, which had 3 rooms. Traveling with large groups… We chose to go around Milan using public transportation (metro),…

Health system in Germany | A summary

    March 8, 2020 /

Of the many things we had to research and learn about this move to Germany, were the various types of insurance (Diego wrote a post about it included) and the health system was one of the most important things, since health insurance is mandatory in Germany. In our many years in Canada, we learned how the system works there and of course, our comparison comes straight from there. In Canada, health is public and you pay nothing on the spot (only in the your taxes, which are high). You have access to the family doctor and from referrals, to a large number of professionals, where almost 100% of the services…

Nuremberg – Bavaria | Trips in Germany

    March 6, 2020 /
    Nuremberg

Last december, just a few days before Christmas and with our family from Brazil visiting us, we had a quick stop in Nuremberg, in the state of Bavaria. The city of Nuremberg or how it’s called here in Germany, Nürnberg, has a bit over 500,000 people and is about 225km from Frankfurt. But perhaps, if you are visiting Munich, you are popping in Nuremberg for a day trip, is it is only 169km from the biggest city of Bavaria. Besides the first known records show the area was established around the year 1050, it was in the WW2 that the city got to be known all over the world, as…

Visiting Pisa – Italy | European Tour

    February 24, 2020 /
    Pisa Italy

Milan was our next overnight stop after Florence. But we decided to make a quick detour and spend some time visiting Pisa. It was a short visit, but totally worth it. This post is part of our European Tour in the fall of 2017. See more searching for Tour Europe 2017. 25 days – 14 cities visited – 9 different hotels/accommodations – many stories!… The Trip It is about 1:30h between Florence and Pisa by car, without stops. It took us a bit longer than that, but it was smooth as the kids took a nap on the way there. We arrived in Pisa late in the morning. Upon arrival,…

    New York City

    February 23, 2020 /

I ended up never posting the photos of the trip, although it was difficult to capture all the moments, due to the daughter to the strip and the city totally taken by tourists, since it was a week before Christmas. New York City is always a fascinating place and full of things to see and review, no matter how many times you visit (ours was already the 4th or 5th time). We decided to go at that time of year not just by chance. Diego had an event in town and as we knew of the possible coming to Germany, so a visit to New York City seemed like a…
