Central Bierhaus Pub in Ottawa, Ottawa

    August 25, 2014 /

The other day we were at another new restaurant in Ottawa, more specifically Kanata, . CENTRAL BIERHAUS is a new pub/brewery that promises to have the largest collection of beers and some of the best European dishes in the city.  The menu is almost all inspired by European dishes (mainly German) and the price is not so salty. Worth a lot of the visit, I loved the atmosphere (I also highlight the interior design, rich in details), the service (our waiter seemed to love what he did) and of course, the food (all done on site or canadian origin) and beers (I can only say that Diego approved that el and…

    Square wall panels

    August 12, 2014 /

One of our first projects of the season is finally here to be shared. This accent wall in our living room was planned since we finished the dining room/fireplace makeover, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it, since that wall behind the sofa was the last beige wall on the main floor and it was hurting our eyes.. Lol I didn't want to just paint in another colour and put a picture frame on it. Nothing wrong with that, but that wall was asking for something more special. I can't remember where I got the square panels idea from, but one afternoon, Alice and I took a…

    Wild Picnic

    July 31, 2014 /

Earlier this month we had a picnic at Diego's company at his boss's house. Staff and their families were invited and the day cooperated, it was sunny (but not cracking) and overall very pleasant. But that's not what I came to talk about specifically. The most interesting fact was the activities for the children, such as trampoline and inflatable drainer, face paintings and a show of a reptéis zoo here in Ottawa.  We never visited Ottawa Reptile Zoo (reptéis and other animals), but now has entered our list such the resourcefulness of our girl without fear to the pets brought to the picnic for a mini-show.  Alice liked both the…

    Algonquin Park at the holiday…

    May 23, 2014 /

Day 19 was Victoria Day holiday here and we took the opportunity to meet friends Carol and Luciano and another lively group of Brazilians and escape a little to the bush. Yes, we rent cottages on the edge of Little Hawk lake, about 40 minutes from Algonquin Park in downtown Ontario and about 3.5 hours from here in Ottawa. Diego and Luciano baptized the place by jumping into the lake on a morning that was 8ºC, eita courage! Algonquin Park is Canada's most popular provincial park and is home to about 2,400 lakes, 1,200 km of streams and rivers, mostly formed by glacier thawing in the last ice age. Still,…

    Curious case of infinite winter

    March 23, 2014 /

True story >> Spring arrived the other day and honestly no one saw much difference around here. During this week, for a few hours, we had a positive temperature (+3ºC) and we were already driving open glass, wanting to get rid of the coats and such.. what winter doesn't do. Today it made -23ºC of sensation and even the thought froze. Yesterday we had a little light storm, just not to miss practice. And there goes the family armed with shovels, boots, gloves, burrows and everything, to clean the property. At least we have fun. The temperature was around 0ºC and the conditions for snowmen and snow ball fight were…
