    Alice – 2 years old

A few days ago our little girl turned 2. What a great adventure it's been since she came to complete our lives. We can't imagine our life without her.  Alice is more and more talkative every day, she speaks 80% in Portuguese and understands everything we speak in English and Portuguese. We prefer her to learn Portuguese now, having a good base, because in everyday life here will be only English and French. She basically talks everything, with long sentences and everything, we love to hear the conclusions she draws, the stories she tells and the things she remembers after a long day. Alice is almost without diapers, only using…

6 years in Canada | 12 random things

Today we celebrate 6 years of arrival in these lands previously unknown and little explored (by us). And nowadays, everything is familiar and we feel at home, look how great. Many things have passed and we have learned so much that it is even difficult to put into words. We change as people, for the better, I'm sure. We learn to be more receptive to new things, to change, to challenges, to make new friends, to undo bonds and to make new ones. /// This past year, with almost 6 years here, we have reached the last stage of the immigration journey, we have become Canadian citizens, we have closed…

    Canadian Passport

Wow, I'm back, computer survived. While preparing the posts of the trip … there how many pictures … I decided to count our semi-saga to get the Canadian passport before our trip. Brand new The fact is that on the day of the citizenship ceremony they collect their permanent resident card, so without major farewells, we went to our cards that were still young (we renewed them last year, since they were worth only 5 years). Thus, knowing of our impending trip (and that without the PR cards, we could not enter Canada again), we commented with the woman in charge of checking the documents and such, that we would…

10 tips | Trips with babies up to 2 years

For those who follow the blog it should be obvious that we love to travel. We try to escape every time the stars line up and allow us. Both the fact that we have the dogs or have children does not prevent us from traveling around, it only takes different itineraries, less running, much more patience etc. Since we were only two, we always thought about continuing to enjoy things that we always like, differently, it's true, even more so enjoying. Alice is quite a travel partner, but it's a good job traveling with a child, that's a fact. In these almost 2 years of parenthood, we have acquired a…

    Spa day

    * Dear readers – thanks for the affectionate comments in the last post! We are super happy to have completed this step… I responded to the comments below each one… Merci/thanks! /// Last Saturday I had a relaxing morning, one of those rarely seen around here. I went to wear my Mother's Day present to a spa about 20 minutes from home, right on the edge of Gatineau Park. According to their website, Le Nordik Spa-Nature, located just minutes from Ottawa in the Chelsea-QC region and opened in 2005, has been expanded to become the largest in North America with its unique facilities, with 7 outdoor pools, 7 saunas ,…

Canadian Citizenship | the end of the infinite process

Today, after almost 6 years on Canadian soil, we attend the citizenship ceremony and become Canadian citizens. Wow, what a long wait! But our process took almost 3 years! Generally we think that as it is required only 3 years (discounted the days off) on Canadian soil to apply for citizenship, but in the head is that impression that it is really only the 3 years to be able to have a second homeland. Obviously not quite so, since we expect almost double, right?! See the first part of our "infinite" citizenship process here. According to the Immigration Canada (www.cic.gc.ca) website, citizenship processes are currently with long waiting periods, ranging…
