Half a day in Siena, Italy
Siena was on our way to Florence from Rome, so we decided to stop for a few hours. The drive is just over 2h and 30 minutes, and the scenery of Tuscany is fantastic. The city is a Unesco World Heritage Site and its beginning dates back to the age-old 900 BC. Every corner of the city was charming, and you do not need a car to get around the city. This is why we parked in a public parking lot just 10 minutes from everything. Piazza del Campo and the Duomo di Siena (or Siena Cathedral) are the main attractions, and located about five minutes apart, in the middle…

A day in Vatican, Italy
Our fourth day in Rome was dedicated to a visit to the Vatican. We booked all day for the tour there, but in fact we were able to see a few more things after visiting the Vatican Museum, which we had bought tickets in advance online, St. Peter’s Basilica and take a general tour of the area. I knew almost nothing about visiting the Vatican until I researched the subject before the trip. One thing I didn’t know was that access to the Vatican is not controlled, meaning I had the idea that it was monitored/paid for. What is really needed is the ticket to the Vatican Museum, one of…

Rome in Four Days
Rome is the largest city in Italy, and it’s reach in history and landmarks. I think it’s a city like Paris, London, or New York, when you can go as many times as you want, and there’s still something new to see. In 2018, we started our tour of Europe here, and it did not disappoint. Since there’s so much, I decided to break down the post in three. The three posts are this one, our top five attractions and our day in the Vatican. This post can be considered the best of the rest of Rome. 🙂 Spanish Steps and Piazza di Spagna The Spanish Steps, which are in…

Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa
Science and Technology Museum – Ottawa Now in early December we decided to check out the newly reopened museum in Ottawa, the Canada Science and Technology Museum. We had already made a brief visit there, a few years before the renovation (in 2013) – see some photos here. The area on the outside is not fully ready, after all, the museum was re-opened to the public only 2 weeks ago, but inside, everything seemed to be in place. Some of the museum's attractions have been reused and others are unheard of. On Saturday, when we went, it was very crowded, with many families. I think it's very interesting to visit…

Our top five Rome attractions
Rome is one of the oldest cities in the world and its history goes back 28 centuries. The city now has over 2 million inhabitants, with more than 4 million in the metropolitan area. But you can still feel like you’re back in time when strolling through its narrow streets, or visiting some of the old buildings around the city. If I look back at all the places we’ve been to, I would say Rome is on our top 5. Our Top Five Attractions Coliseum I will start the post with the most famous attraction in Rome – the Coliseum. Even if you’ve been there before (like myself), it still…

Tour of Europe 2017 – general tips
We had the opportunity to visit some more new cities for our travel map and revisit some others on our most recent trip, this time through Europe, in October of that year. We passed 3 countries (or 5, if you count the Vatican and Monaco), passed through 14 cities and slept in 9 different places. Our trip was planned with little advance until, counting the number of days and destinations (as usually happens with us), so I confess that we did not have everything annotated, certain itineraries and tours previously booked. Some main sights, we booked over the internet some time in advance (I think what was the most time…
