Travel with children | Long-haul flights

    April 14, 2014 /

If you are someone who accompanies our page on FB, you may have seen that we have embarked towards Brazil this last week for a season of approximately 2 weeks. What you may not know is that Diego stayed in Canada for a while longer because of Dexter and his recovery (I still owe this post is not even) and because of that, Alice and I came alone, more than 32 hours of travel to our final destination (this counting 4 flights and a road trip). Today I tell you how to travel with small children on long-haul flights. Leaving Ottawa, we stopped in Detroit, then Atlanta, Rio de Janeiro…

    Gananoque – ON

    April 4, 2014 /

Friday is many photos day here on the blog, prepared? Lol This last weekend we decided to pick up the whole family and meet with friends Carol and Luciano for two days of relaxation. We chose the small town of Gananoque-ON, since it was “almost” that in the middle of the road, are 161 km from home and 309 km from Mississauga, where they live. Gananoque is a small town on the edge of the Saint Lawrence River with approximately 5,200 inhabitants and is a great access point to the Thousand Islands (1000 Islands), the region’s major tourist spot. The city is close to Kingston, also known as the gate…

    Profession | No more Architect

    March 25, 2014 /

Since arriving in this beautiful icy country or since the plans to come here are no longer that great cloud of uncertainty, I have difficulty saying what I do /what is my profession.  In context, for those who do not know, that potentially creative individual who studied 5+ years on architecture (and in my case, also urbanism), can not call himself as such, in Canadian lands. And that the diploma is not worth here! (first thing that goes through the head and is the pure truth).  I must have explained here on the blog, but you can understand why things are as they are. You go there and study reinforced…

    Curious case of infinite winter

    March 23, 2014 /

True story >> Spring arrived the other day and honestly no one saw much difference around here. During this week, for a few hours, we had a positive temperature (+3ºC) and we were already driving open glass, wanting to get rid of the coats and such.. what winter doesn't do. Today it made -23ºC of sensation and even the thought froze. Yesterday we had a little light storm, just not to miss practice. And there goes the family armed with shovels, boots, gloves, burrows and everything, to clean the property. At least we have fun. The temperature was around 0ºC and the conditions for snowmen and snow ball fight were…

Best Neighborhoods in Ottawa | for families

    March 15, 2014 /

    * Best neighborhoods in Ottawa – Family oriented** This post was written in English, please use the translate feature (on the sidebar) for other languages. Thanks, i'm sorry. These days I came across these reports in a magazine here in Ottawa and found it interesting to share here on the blog, especially to get to know more about the city, cost of housing here and how Canada evaluates neighborhoods in general. When we got here, I must admit, we knew very little about the different neighborhoods and transportation systems between them. Our first home here, which lasted just over a month, was located in a neighborhood considered "dangerous" (nothing compared…

DIY – Entry Renovation – Part II

    March 9, 2014 /

Baseboards have yet to be sanded and painted, quarter rounds are yet to be cut, painted and installed, it's far from the finish line, but yet, the powder room is totally usable and looks quite different from just a few weeks ago. But below, I put together the main selection we made for the bathroom. All, I must add, are a combination of cost effective and good/clean design products. Even if I had no budget limit for this project, I probably would have selected similar products, if not the same ones. I just like the idea of being able to transform a room (respecting my design ideas) for as little…
