Alice – 6 years old
Visiting the Colosseum in Rome Our firstborn completed 6 years at the end of September and as we went to travel well on her day, ended up not leaving the post here before, but of course, could not help talking about this very special moment for her and our whole family. Because I count each year as a great milestone in childhood, given how much each child develops from one year to the next at that age. Alice remains a super energetic, curious and humorous girl. She also has moments when she is angry and stubborn, but which child is not at that age right. We love her conversations about…

Baby #3 on the way…
Natural smiles or not so much, but all happy for sure! For those who follow the #instagram of the blog, saw that the great novelty of the year is that the family is increasing again, comes around another canadian little boy or girl to bring many joys to our family. And I start by saying that it was no surprise, we had been discussing the idea for months, but it was a certain scare at first, because the baby came right away, without having to wait too long. Good and blessed scare, of course. We're halfway through the pregnancy, 20 weeks, about the beginning of the fifth month. Baby is…

Autumn/winter forecast in Ottawa
Alice enjoying the colors of autumn – love these colorful chrysanthemums On September 22we welcomed the autumn and unlike many people, who hate to see the summer say goodbye for 9 months, I love the most colorful season of the year here. It is that short time of being able to wear clothes and coats more beautiful, boots that never come out of the closet, because they can not be worn in the snow and are very hot for spring and summer. What's more, the cold so, brings cozy nights, perfect for a fondue with the fireplace on and a wine to accompany… Hehe But the colorful leaves are really…

10 years in Canada: more Canadians every day
10 years of our arrival! Behold, we have reached a milestone in our immigrant career, a decade of new country, a fresh start and readaptation. With 10 years in Canada, we no longer feel "newcomers" obviously we feel safe and adapted. In fact, it's not a decade, it's been a few years since we felt that way. We get used to the rules, the customs and the way people are around here. Of course, being a country with a large number of immigrants and many things here are different from those we learned in our 25 years in Brazil, learning never ceases entirely. There's always something new to learn, some…

Ottawa Weather | Month by Month
Ottawa, the Canadian capital and also the city we call home around here. From our early days here, when people discover that we are immigrants and more precisely, from which country we come from, we have always been asked how we adapted or what we thought of Canada's climate. And of course, many people who come to Ottawa for tourism, ask us the best times, how are the days, the level of cold or heat etc. Anyway, climate is a popular subject. The weather comments this year here in Ottawa are being that we haven't even had summer. Everybody says that. The fact is that yes, we had summer, but…

Bilingual children
Just love… While in Brazil, back in my teenage years, I already imagined that one day I would have children. What I didn't realize at the time was that I would have to deal with the fact that I was living in a country where you are two official languages and neither of them is Portuguese. When our family began to grow and how they were born here, we had no doubt that the Portuguese would continue as the official language of our home, after all, all our family members are in Brazil, we have friends here who and have no doubt that we want them communicate with them efficiently.…
